Committee Nominations - Leeds Rocksoc

This is your chance to choose who you want to represent and run your society for the next year. The committee positions are: President - The boss, presides over the smooth running of the society. Secretary - This person takes notes at all the meetings and helps the president. Treasurer - This person handles the money in the society. The top 3 positions (president, Secretary and Treasurer) are expected to attend as many rocksoc functions as is physically possible and are seen as officers to the union. Publicity Secretary - This person is expected to organise publicity for the rocksoc events. This can mean designing posters and leaflets and liasing with the union and clubs to get the posters put up. Social Secretary - This person organises the clubnights, DJ rotas and door rotas. They are also expected to attend as many events as possible. Gig Co-ordinator - This person organises the gigs put on by the rocksoc and any trips to gigs. They also organise the bands for the clubnights. 3 x General Committee - These people are at the disposal of the other committee members and help out with the smooth running of events. If you feel someone you know will be suitable for one of these positions post their names below.You can only nominate and second one person for each position. We will also be passing the new constitution at the AGM. Don't quote me on that though, I could be wrong. Okay, Tom, I can't be secretary next year so I counted your nomination as for Adam. Ben, Chris Cave is in America next year. I've counted your vote, but you can withdraw it and re-use if you wish. I think that Tims new version allows you to do so. I'm not sure how the union will feel about that though. I talked to Andy about it last year and he wasn't happy about the whole idea of life membership etc. because circumstances could occur where a load of old members outvoted the current LUU student populus. I pointed out this was unlikley as life membership was only awarded to one or two people per year. As I understand it Andy Winter is the Student Activities Manager, and final say on this matter is the Activities Exec, which unless I'm mistaken is the member of The Student Executive designated Student Activities Officer, currently Jessica Parker. I some older constitutions it was recognised that one could hold Life Member and Full Member provided all required conditions were met, (ie is current student member of the union, and has paid the fee) one could have the privileges befitting full members. I respect and agree with Andy's position that only Student members of LUU should have a say in how the union or a union society is run, but it is my opinion that any attempt to prevent a current student and union member having full membership should be taken up with the exec. __________________ I am not a Legend, I'm just in exile for playing keys.
